The Hello Bar is a simple notification bar that engages users and communicates a call to action.

A friend of mine uses Blogger and says she can’t cut and paste anything into Blogger. She says she has to retype everything. I was shocked to hear that. Is this true?

Update: My bloggy friend, momrn, at My Quiet Corner wrote in with this bit of info that will probably be handy for you Blogger bloggers:

You canNOT paste into the "compose" tab of your post.  If you are wanting to copy and paste you must go into the "edit HTML" tab of the post and then it works just dandy.

I am assuming you mean she cannot copy text from a Word document, for example, and paste that text into a new or existing Blogger post. I have never encountered this problem in Blogger so I
contacted a few friends who also use Blogger. They also had not had this
problem.

One thing your friend may not be aware of are the shortcuts
for copying and pasting.

To copy something in order to use it somewhere else:

  1. Use your mouse to highlight the text you wish to copy.
  2. Push
Control and C at the same time to copy this text.
  3. Go to where you’d like to place the copied text (e.g., a new post on your blog editor).
  4. Place your cursor where you would like to paste the text.
  5. Paste the text by pushing Control and V at the same time.

To cut something out of one documents and place it in
another:

  1. Use your mouse to highlight the text you wish to copy.
  2. Push Control and X at the same time to cut this text (it will disappear from this document because you are cutting—or deleting—it out).
  3. Go to where you’d like to place the copied text (e.g., a new post on your blog editor).
  4. Place your cursor where you would like to paste the text.
  5. Paste the text by pushing Control and V at the same time.

An easy way to remember which buttons to push for each
function is

  • Control + C = Copy (the C is for copy)
  • Control + V = Paste (the V is like a editing carot mark that indicates where text should go)
  • Control + X = Cut (the X looks like scissors that would cut out your text—OK, OK just squint real hard and you’ll see the scissors)

  1. I have noticed this behavior when using Safari on a Mac. Switching to Firefox alleviates the problem.
