Here are some things you should write about that help to determine your brand on your blog:

Why you started blogging in the first place. Put a story behind it and you and your blog become more REAL.

Come up with a motto or slogan that exemplifies you and your blog... or the purpose of your blog.

Have your blog roll only point to on topic blogs.

Explain some of your rituals, like what you do before you post, how you come up with blog topics etc. If people can visualize you doing something, you become real.

Don't always talk about people with similar ideas. Sometimes it is the people who we don't agree with that define us.

Come up with special words and give your definition. This way when you use the word or phrase, they feel connected to you because they understand what you are talking about.

Just some thoughts to help "brand" yourself in your reader's minds.

REALLY GOOD TOPIC and tips, Karen. Branding's something I think about a lot, coming from a marketing background - but not something one might automatically link to blogging life. Your post sums up the importance and the ingredients of positive blog branding. Thanks tons for your insights.

I have struggled with coming up with my niche because I feel that I write on a variety and wonder if it screams NO NICHE HERE. I don't like being titled as one thing though. Hopefully I'm doing it right! I have read many posts about how your URL and title should be the same and I'm guilty as charged with having the "familyadventures" as my URL. I was thinking of switching my URL, but worried I would lose everything. Any good tips to swtch my URL, but make sure my blog doesn't go missing in the process?
