Update: This giveaway is now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered and Liked Blogging Basics 101 on Facebook! Random.org chose these numbers as the winners of the necklaces: #24 & #16.
Congratulations to Sarah B & Shana! I’ve sent you both e-mail and will need you to respond by Tuesday at 10:00am CST or I’ll have to choose another winner.
Much of my audience here at Blogging Basics 101 is female. We welcome our male counterparts, but, demographically speaking, this blog is a babe magnet. I say this because I’m going to hold a giveaway today and it’s geared toward women and I don’t want our man friends to be put off. I’m not putting this up to shun you, I’m just trying to give back to the community a little bit and what I have to give back happens to be female-centric. Having clarified that, I’d like to invite you men to join in the fun because you may need a Valentine’s Day gift for your significant other and what I have will fit the bill (if she didn’t go to Blissdom).
One of the fun things about attending Blissdom is the quality of swag. Even though I keep very little swag for myself, I love to see what’s in the bag. Attendees this year received $20 to Red Lobster (which I gave to one of my roommates) and some other coupons (which I also gave to my roommates). I brought home my Lands End bag and a water bottle and some Jockey undies (it would have been weird to give those away, I think). And I brought home two necklaces: one from The Vintage Pearl and one from Lisa Leonard. They are extremely nice necklaces, but frankly, I won’t wear them because I don’t wear a lot of jewelry. Rather than keep them in their boxes and let them tarnish, I’d like to pass them to one of you who couldn’t attend Blissdom to be gifted with such amazing swag.

What do you have to do to win one of these amazing necklaces from Blissdom 2011? It’s simple, really.
First, I ask that you only enter if you weren’t able to go to Blissdom. If you were at Blissdom, you already have these beautiful necklaces. I’m trying to spread some love to the gals who couldn’t go. It’s hard to be at home following that Twitter stream, missing out on the action.
There are two ways to enter. You can do one or both, your choice! But you can only do them once. So if you’re entered more than twice, you’ll be disqualified.
- Leave a comment on this post telling me what type of panel you’d attend when you go to your next blog conference. What would give you goosebumps? Learning how to use your dSLR? Or making your own Facebook fan page? Or upping your SEO game? Or learning how to market yourself on etsy? Tell me! I really want to know.
- Go over and Like the Blogging Basics 101 Facebook fan page, then leave me a separate comment here telling me you’re a fan. If you’re already a fan, excellent! Thank you! Just leave a separate comment here telling me.
This giveaway is open to US residents, ages 18 and above.
The giveaway starts Thursday, February 3 and ends Friday, February 4 at midnight.
On Saturday morning, I’ll use random.org to choose 2 winners.
I’ll contact the winners and they’ll have three days to respond.
If I don’t hear from them, I’ll choose new winners.
GOOD LUCK!

I’m a fan in much need of “blogging basics for dummies”! How do I change my picture on my profile?
I wanted so badly to go to Blissdom! I’m going to try my hardest to make it next year! But, when I make it there, I’d love to learn about all of the blogging basics, including how to monetize my blog, how to get my name out there, and especially how to take better food photos and improve my writing.
I’m a fan on facebook! Yay!
Hi Melanie — We met on our way out of Blissdom LAST year.
Flying with a 5 month old baby thwarted my plans this year, but I’m glad I was home after reading about all the flu that many attendees are now fighting!
When I go back to Blissdom, I want to attend a session on monetization. HOW to most effectively use affiliate links, which type of advertising would do me the most good. How to get a better ROI for my time.
I am really looking forward to attending my first blogging conference! I would attend a class on expanding my audience and increasing traffic to my site.

I will go to Blissdom … eventually. As a new blogger, I didn’t feel I was ready for this year’s session, but hope that 2012 will work out. A lot will probably change in the next year, but I’d love to learn more about the secrets behind SEO and how I can better promote my blog to the correct audience.

I love, love love the necklaces and I couldn’t go to Blissdom and I am in Canada which is partly why I couldn’t afford Blissdom. But I see I can’t enter from Canada, so my heart is broken. Wah! I am planning to follow you anyways.
Cheers, Paula @inkscrblr
I would like to see a panel on SEO – I have no clue what I am doing there- also a panel on multimedia again would really ring my bell. I love vloggin, but would love hands on experience figuring out what else and how else to light up my blog.

The next time I attend a blogging panel I hope to learn more about SEO but also how much microbloging can best be optimized. I’m always looking for great photography tips as well. Goosebumps? I’d get those any time someone talked education or race because those are SOOOOO my issues.

I’m a new subscriber to your site. I’ve had a rubber-stamping blog for a couple of years now but have only started working to change it over to a business blog. Until I read it on your blog, I never realized there were blogging specific seminars! If I am ever able to attend one, I would want to know about ways to improve my site to reflect my business as well as SEO info to help it rate well, etc. Can I say I need to learn it all since I’m starting blind and from scratch?
Very generous of you!
Photography, SEO, and a “how to” on how to transition of blogger to another platform.

I love your site and am now a FAN on Facebook. I’ve never won anything online, so this would be neat. And I’m super jealous you got to go to Blissdom. Very cool!
Can’t wait to read more!

I’m a fan on facebook. In fact, I read about the giveaway on FB.
Major fan here – being a new “official” blogger I treasure all the tips and tricks.
If I had the opportunity to go to a blog conference I would be awe-struck first off haha. The classes/seminars I would like would be better writing, and marketing better.

I’d love to attend a blog conference and learn about SEO, how to market my blog, how to appeal to sponsors (who could sponsor me to attend the conference!), how to get more readers, how to get the readers I have to comment, is it really worth moving to wordpress from blogger?
SO many things…
establishing my own domain
blog design and installation
how to use my dslr
how to get more readers
and on and on and on

I really need a great SEO class, plus I’d love a basic photoshop class for blogging! It is SO confusing, it be wonderful to have classes aimed at what the basic blogger needs to know!
thanks for sharing the love for those of us who couldnt get to the conference!
liked your fan page- LOVE your welcome landing page- did you design yourself? I need to work on mine!

what beautiful necklaces. i can’t wait to hear more about the conference.
i think i’d like to be in a workshop that really was more big picture… like how to express the vision you have for your blog actually in the look, feel, and product of the blog.
thnx.
Boy, you’ve done my work for me as the 4 examples you give are all things I would love to hear more about. I guess if I had to pick one it would be suggestions on ways to take better pictures with my dSR for my blog (and products for my Etsy store). Also, since that Etsy store exists only in my mind at this point, I’d love to hear about starting a new store and making it stand out amongst all of the competition. Thanks for the lovely giveaway.
liking you over on Facebook. Thanks for a lovely giveaway.

What topic would get me to attend a panel? That’s easy – engaging followers. Between my Facebook Fan Page, Twitter and RSS, I have over a thousand fans and I gain about 5 to 10 more fans each day. While I’m absolutely thrilled to have this many followers, no mater what I try there are only about 5 who actually converse with me regularly. So finding ways to engage my readership is one of my top goals for 2011.

Oh Melanie, you know I’d love to have gone to Blissdom. I’d love to learn more about my dlsr camera on a photo walk, much like how they did it at blogher in san fransisco. I would also like to attend a session that is part teaching part workshop on setting up a professional website for freelancers. I’ve gotta do that.

I am so frustrated lately with the lack of comments on my blog. I don’t know if it is me, my topics, my lack of SEO knowledge, or the fact that Typepad makes it look hard to add a comment. That is where I would start if I were at Blissdom! I just want it to be so much more engaging! How do I do that???
I would like to, as you say, up my SEO game. I understand what it means, but the actual coding, etc. would be interesting to me.
Also, I’m interested in the business side of blogging. Copyrighting, trademarking, paying your writers, tax consequences, etc. I know. I should have gone to Blissdom.

I would love to learn the basics of blogging.
Melanie, what a generous thing you did! I am a jewelry wearer (have on the Lisa Leonard now, the Vintage Pearl yesterday), so I’m hanging onto mine, but this is so sweet.
