Favicons are the small 16 pixel by 16 pixel pictures you see beside some URLs in your browser’s address bar.
There are several tutorials online that will walk you through how to make a favicon and install it on your blog, so we’ll just point you in the right direction!

- Mysteries of the Favicon.ic0 — How to Create a Favicon in Photoshop: This tutorial is specifically for Photoshop, but I think I followed these directions (oh so many years ago) using Elements. You could probably also use Gimp, which is free.
There are also places online that allow you to upload an image and they’ll make into a favicon for you. There are two things to keep in mind, though: 1.) You’ll still have to insert it into your blog’s template; see the links above for instructions and 2) You should start with a square image for best results.
As you are deciding what picture or graphic to use for your favicon, remember that it needs to be recognizable at a small (16×16) size. My opinion is that a line drawing or cartoon is usually better for a favicon than a photograph.

Favicons are just another way to help you reinforce your brand. If you have a specific image that is associated with your blog — like maybe a picture of a present for a giveaway site — then using a version of that image as a favicon helps people further recognize your brand. When they bookmark your site, that favicon is next to your blog name and they can quickly distinguish your link from the others in the list.

thanks for the info, I just found a wp plugin that does it for you easily. It’s called wsa favicon, it’s free from the wp extends site. Of course you have to have a wordpress blog for it. It can use any .gif, .jpg or .png image. Cool! I love plugins, they make it so easy.
Okay, so I’m thinking I may just have wasted a lot of time.
Can I do this in blogger? Because I don’t have any clue about the FTP or webserver. Also…I kept trying to download the ICO plug-in into my PSE, but it won’t show up. Do you know if there is any other way to do this?
